A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING DOLORES “Dolly” B. YANAN AS “AMBASSADOR OF GOODWILL” OF THE CITY OF OLONGAPO IN CONNECTION WITH THE 7TH MEETING OF THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S NETWORK ON SEPTEMBER 14 TO 19, 2009 AT THE

UNIVERSITY OF GUAM, MANGILAO, GUAM, U.S.A.

WHEREAS, since last year 1997, women from all over the globe gather for a meeting that discusses peace, security and to advance gender equality, and now, the upcoming 7th Meeting of the International Women’s Network will take place in the University of Guam, Mangilao, Guam, U.S.A., with the theme: “CHINEMMA, NINA MAOLEK YAN INARESPETU PARA DIRECHON TAOTAO” (Resistance, Resilience and Respect for Human Rights);

WHEREAS, the Philippine Delegation to the said meeting will be composed of seven (7) women representing Non Governmental Organizations of the country and the City of Olongapo is very privileged to have three (3) out of the seven (7) that will be members of the delegation;

WHEREAS, Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan is the Executive Director of Yokubari Foundation, a non-governmental organization that deals mainly on Human Development Programs and Community Organizing, in addition to, she is also the National Vice-Chairperson of the Pagkakaisa ng mga Kababaihan sa Pilipinas (KAISA KA!), a women’s group advocating for gender equality and empowerment in our society. Her contributions were remarkable and equally notable for the attainment of the said campaign;

WHEREAS, for the past three (3) consecutive International Meetings, Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan is always invited namely; in 2004, 2007 and now 2009. More so, her presence to the said event is a big contribution in attaining the goals and objectives of the said convocation;

WHEREAS, for this year’s meeting, Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan will be one of the presenters of the issue on “ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION AND TOXICITY: Reclaiming Our Physical Environment through Clean-up, Health and Healing Practices”, together with her international counterparts from the countries of South Korea, Republic of Marshall Islands and Puerto Rico;

WHEREAS, Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan would carry –out the issue of the move to revive the Moth-Balled Bataan Nuclear Power Plant in Morong, Province of Bataan, and the issue on women at the Hanjin Heavy Industries Incorporated-Philippines as one of the most prominent Human Rights issue in our country;

WHEREAS, being designated as this City’s “Ambassador of Goodwill”, Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan is tasked to contribute beneficial insights and learning that will transcribe from that meeting, in collaboration with the Committee on Human Rights and the Committee on the Protection of Women, Family and Gender Equality in pursuance of the aims and goals carried by their organization for the benefit of the People of Olongapo;

WHEREAS, it is not only of pride and prestige that would befall on the city to have Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan as one of the Philippine Delegates, but rather, remarkable contribution will be made to the international community through her insights that would transcend our city’s excellence to the whole world;

NOW, THEREFORE, on the motion of Councilor Elena C. Dabu, co-sponsored by Councilor Sarah Lugerna F. Lipumano-Garcia, M.D., with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in a session assembled, to designate, as it hereby designates Dolores “Dolly” B. Yanan As “Ambassador Of Goodwill” Of The City Of Olongapo In Connection With The 7th Meeting Of The International Women’s Network On September 14 To 19, 2009 At The University Of Guam, Mangilao, Guam, U.S.A.
