RESOLUTION NO. 80
( Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION STRONGLY SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL NO. 3773
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD AND
POPULATION MANAGEMENT ACT OF 2005”


WHEREAS, the Local Government Code of 1991 provides that the local government unit shall promote health and safety, enhance the right of the people to a balanced ecology, enhance economic prosperity and social justice;

WHEREAS, the rapidly growing world population typically implies an effect on the promotion of human welfare, especially for women and children;

WHEREAS, a growing population also implies problems on sustainability with the increasing cases of poverty, depletion of resources, delivery of basic services and provision of other variables which are used to measure the quality of life;

WHEREAS, promotion of responsible parenthood, family planning and reproductive health is one of the best step to address population-related problems;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Bella P. Asuncion and co-sponsored by Councilor Angelina B. Andrada, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;


RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to strongly support, as it hereby strongly supports House Bill No. 3773 otherwise known as “Responsible Parenthood and Population Management Act of 2005”
