RESOLUTION NO. 161
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION DECLARING DECEMBER 16 OF EVERY YEAR AS BARANGAY COUNCILORS DAY

WHEREAS, the Barangay is the basic political unit of this country which serves as the primary planning and implementing unit of government policies, plans, programs, projects and activities in the community;

WHEREAS, it is also a forum wherein the collective views of the people may be expressed, crystallized and considered and where disputes may be amicably settled;

WHEREAS, the Barangay Councilors are the first leaders that carry out the above mentioned provisions who serve as the core-people who formulates policies, laws and resolutions which serves as the machinery in performing public service to the basic units of our society;

WHEREAS, aimed to unite the barangay councilors in the City, these leaders bonded themselves and created the Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines – Olongapo City Chapter last December 16, 2005 in order to promote camaraderie and strengthen the spirit of leadership and public service amongst them;

WHEREAS, to give due recognition and boost the morale of our Brgy. Councilors, it is but proper that these legislators be given due recognition by marking December 16 of every year as “Barangay Councilors Day;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Cynthia G. Cajudo, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to declare, as it hereby declares December 16 of every year as “Barangay Councilors Day.

Let a copy of this Resolution be furnished the Office of Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines-Olongapo City Chapter thru its President, Councilor Cesar M. Santiago for their information and record.
