RESOLUTION NO. 16
(Series of 2006)

A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING PROFOUND GRATITUDE TO THE OLONGAPO CITY ASSOCIATION OF SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, U. S. A.

WHEREAS, the City of Olongapo, in its role as parens patriae, carries its mission to create and provide a safe, nurturing and loving environment where children can develop and realize their full potentials and become productive members of the society;

WHEREAS, part of this avowed City policy is to give affordable quality education to its young populace through the grant of scholarships to poor but deserving students;

WHEREAS, it is through the leadership of then Congressman and now City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. and the complementary efforts and support of the citizenry of Olongapo, wherever they may be, that such programs are being continuously implemented ;

WHEREAS, the City is grateful for the response of the Olongapo City Association of San Diego, California, U.S.A., headed by its President, Ms. Connie Leyva, to be one of the financial providers of a number of qualified scholars. As such, they had earmarked one thousand U.S. dollars ($1,000) for the said purpose;

WHEREAS, such gesture driven by their huge concern and commitment to the City will indeed bear proximate and imminent positive effects to the lives of the scholars as well as their families;

WHEREAS, this exemplary act of this bond of individuals, who took the City’s mission at heart despite the geographical distance, will serve as an impetus from where partnerships on noble causes such as this, can be forged;

WHEREAS, the City accepts such donation with utmost thanksgiving for the kindred spirit exemplified by the Olongapo City Association of San Diego, California, U.S. A.;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to express, as it hereby expresses profound gratitude to the Olongapo City Association of San Diego, California, U. S. A.

Let a copy of this Resolution be furnished the Olongapo City Association of San Diego, California, U. S. A., through its President, Ms. Connie Leyva, for their information and record.
