RESOLUTION NO. 12
(Series of 2006)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR
HONORABLE JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR THE AFFILIATION OF GORDON COLLEGE TO THE NATIONAL ORTHOPEDIC HOSPITAL.


WHEREAS, the Gordon College is a tertiary level learning institution duly authorized and recognized to accept enrollees for Health Science and related programs of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED);

WHEREAS, the increasing demand for health professionals in the global market, led to the growing number of enrollees to the said school and a tertiary-care capable hospital is necessary in complying to the Nursing Act of 2002 that requires nursing students to undergo related learning experience (duty hours) in the community as well as in hospital setting;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Orthopedic Center is an authorized tertiary care capable hospital that has the capability and the facilities to impart the real hospital set up and exposures required of a nursing job to the students;

WHEREAS, to act on the executive function pertaining to this matter, the Mayor has to be authorized by the Legislative Body to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement necessary to pursue the said affiliation;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D. Marzan with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor, Hon. James Gordon, Jr. to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement for the Affiliation of Gordon College with the Philippine Orthopedic Center.
