WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 36, Series of 2004 entitled “An Ordinance Adopting The Revisions On The Legal Basis For The Creation And Operation Of The Olongapo City Colleges Now Named As Gordon College” mandates the offering of Graduate Programs such as Master of Arts in Education, Master in Public Management, Master in Business Management and Master of Arts in Nursing;

WHEREAS, the opening of at least two Graduate Programs is one of the tedious requirements for Gordon College to be elevated to a University status;

WHEREAS, the operation of a Graduate Studies would give a venue for higher education to the growing batches of graduates of the said school;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D. Marzan, co-sponsored by Councilor Edwin J. Piano with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to enact the following Ordinance:


ORDINANCE NO. 19
(Series of 2007)

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE INSTITUTE OF GRADUATE STUDIES IN GORDON COLLEGE AND PROVIDING FEES THEREOF

BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD IN SESSION ASSEMBLED, THAT:

SECTION 1. Title – This Ordinance shall be known as the “The Graduate Studies Program”.

SECTION 2. Policy – The Local Government Unit of Olongapo City recognizes its responsibility to provide access to quality and responsive education (formal, non-formal and life long) at all levels.

SECTION 3. Coverage – This Ordinance shall cover the following Master Programs:

1. Master of Arts in Education
2. Master in Public Management
3. Master in Business Management
4. Master of Arts in Nursing

SECTION 4. Staffing & Salary – The Dean of Graduate Studies shall head the Program to be assisted by the administrative staff. The dean, administrative staff and faculty members shall conform to the qualification standards of the Civil Service Commission and other prevailing laws. Salaries and other emoluments shall come from the fees generated by the Program.

SECTION 5. Fees – The schedule of fees is as follows:

1. Tuition Fee - PhP400/unit
2. Registration Fee (new student) - 200
3. Miscellaneous Fees:
a. ID - PhP100
b. Library - 300
c. Internet - 300
d. Medical - 100
e. Testing Materials - 250
f. Computer Lab. Fee - 500
g. Nursing Lab. Fee - 500

SECTION 6. Repealing Clause – Ordinances or Resolutions inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed or amended.

SECTION 7. Supplemental Clause – This Ordinance shall supplement Ordinance No. 36, Series of 2004 and should be interpreted as such, however, if cannot be reconciled this Ordinance shall prevail.

SECTION 8. Effectivity Clause - This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen days (15) after posting at the three conspicuous places.
