RESOLUTION NO. 90

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE UNFALTERING SPIRIT AND GALLANT EFFORTS OF REGIDOR “REGGIE” PABLO, A MOUNTAINEER FROM THE CITY OF OLONGAPO AND ONE OF THE FILIPINOS WHO CHALLENGED AND REACHED THE PEAK OF MT. EVEREST

WHEREAS, Olongapo City salutes the remarkable determination and endurance of the lone Filipino mountaineer, who gallantly trekked the longest route to the summit of Mt. Everest - Regidor “Reggie Pablo, proudly an Olongapeño;

WHEREAS, Pablo, a 36-year old industrial engineer conquered the peak on May 17, 2007, shortly after three Filipino women mountaineers reached the same;

WHEREAS, while other mountain climbers decided to take the challenge via the north route, Pablo was the seventh Filipino to reach the summit but the first Filipino who dared and reached Mt. Everest through the China route, believed to be the oldest and the longest route to the said mountain apex;

WHEREAS, his never-say-die attitude and resilience taught him to take the tough journey ahead as well as the near-death descent without sustaining an injury, for which he was indeed so blessed of;

WHEREAS, his strength to finish it to the top amidst the great battle over the forces of nature and human frailty is a character worth emulating by the people of Olongapo;

WHEREAS, the City stands proud of Pablo’s encouraging climb to the peak and memorializes this accomplishment of his as another feather on the cap of the City;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,


RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to commend, as it hereby commends the unfaltering spirit and gallant efforts of Regidor “Reggie” Pablo, a mountaineer from the City of Olongapo and one of the Filipinos who challenged and reached the peak of Mt. Everest.
