A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL NO. 2987 OR THE “BIGGER PIE, BIGGER SLICE BILL” WHICH SEEKS TO INCREASE THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT’S SHARE IN NATIONAL TAXES AND ENHANCE THE CITY’S CAPACITY IN THE DELIVERY OF ESSENTIAL PUBLIC SERVICES

WHEREAS, as per communication dated February 1, 2013, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III wrote to the City Mayor requesting the City’s support to Senate Bill No. 2987 entitled “An Act increasing THE SHARE OF Local Government Units from 40% of the National Internal Revenue Taxes to 50% share in all taxes collected by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Customs, Philippine Ports Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Department of Foreign Affairs and such other government agencies deputized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue to collect national taxes, amending for this purpose Section 284 of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991;”

WHEREAS, the Senate Bill No. 2987 known as the “bigger pie, bigger slice bill” aims to infuse and increase  the revenues of Local Government Units in order to provide essential public services especially those relating to the promotion, enhancement and protection of the people’s health, education, and other social amelioration initiatives;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to support, as it hereby supports, Senate Bill No. 2987 or the “Bigger Pie, Bigger Slice Bill,” which seeks to increase the local government’s share in national taxes and enhance the city’s capacity in the delivery of essential public services.
