RESOLUTION NO. 101
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH DKT PHILIPPINES, INC. FOR THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROJECT OF THE UNITED NATIONS FAMILY PLANNING ACTION (UNFPA)

WHEREAS, the Reproductive Health Project consisting of HIV/AIDS/STD prevention and control, and family planning, form part of the UNFPA-funded Annual Work Plan (AWP) under the 6th Country Programme of Assistance to the Government of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, a Letter of Understanding (LOU) was signed between the City of Olongapo, referred to as the implementing partner, represented by the City Mayor James Gordon, Jr., and The United Nations Population Fund, referred to as UNFPA, for the implementation of the UNFPA-funded AWP;

WHEREAS, UNFPA has a prior agreement with DKT PHILIPPINES, INC., a non-profit, non-governmental organization, to grant the City of Olongapo Twenty-Five Thousand (PhP25,000) Pesos worth of contraceptives, funded by UNFPA, to be used for the implementation of the UNFPA Reproductive Health Projects in the city;

WHEREAS, under the franchise agreement with DKT, said supplies purchased at lower unit cost will be sold by the city at the suggested retail price. Profit will be used as the operational fund for the DKT franchise shop called POP SHOP to be run by the City Government;

WHEREAS, this agreement is in preparation for the eventual phase-out of the Department of Health contraceptives supplies to local government units;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Angelina B. Andrada, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to Enter Into A Memorandum Of Agreement With DKT Philippines, Inc. For The Reproductive Health Project Of The United Nations Family Planning Action (UNFPA)
