RESOLUTION NO. 71
(Series of 2006)

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE “TUBIG NG MASA” (COMMUNITY WATER STATION) AS ONE OF THE PRIORITY PROJECTS OF THE
CITY FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2006 AMOUNTING TO FIVE
HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS (PHP500,000.00)

WHEREAS, “Section 458 Paragraph 5 Section VII in the Local Government Code provides that “Subject to existing laws, establish and provide for the maintenance, repair and operation of an efficient waterworks system to supply water for the inhabitants and to purify the source of the water supply; regulate the construction, maintenance, repair and use of hydrants, pumps, cisterns and reservoir…”

WHEREAS, due to the high terrain geographic location of a portion of the population of the City, the pressure of the water in the City is not enough to reach the said areas;

WHEREAS, inadequate supply of potable water poses danger to the health and sanitation of the affected constituents and later on would be shouldered by the City Government;

WHEREAS, the placement of water kiosk in the affected communities is an alternative viable solution while waiting for the permanent water structure for the said areas;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D, Marzan co-sponsored by Councilor Angelina B. Andrada, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to approve, as it hereby approves the “Tubig ng Bayan” (Community Water Station) as one of the priority projects of the City for the Calendar Year 2006 amounting to Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP500,000.00).
