RESOLUTION NO. 178
(Series of 2006)

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC
OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR ADDITIONAL LOGISTICAL SUPPORT
TO MEET THE NEEDS OF GIANT FIRMS INVESTING IN
SUBIC BAY METROPOLITAN AUTHORITY


WHEREAS, the Office of the President has skillfully attracted foreign businessmen to invest in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority;

WHEREAS, these foreign investors, HANJIN and COGEN among others, rely on Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and Olongapo City for the needed manpower for the conduct and operation of its business venture;

WHEREAS, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and Olongapo City Government are global partners to address unemployment and underemployment thereby alleviating poverty among residents of Olongapo and ultimately address the needs of the investors;

WHEREAS, the Olongapo City Government has embarked on an ambitious project of skills training of its residents to address the issue of manpower requirement of these gigantic firms in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority;

WHEREAS, the City Government is in need of additional logistical support to maintain and continue the welding, glass manufacturing and call center training of its residents in addition to the more than one thousand residents it has trained for the said business capitalists.

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to request, as it hereby requests the President of the Republic of the Philippines for additional logistical support to meet the needs of giant firms investing in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished to the President of the Republic of the Philippines and the Administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority for their information and guidance.
