A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER AS LIBRARY INFORMATION MONTH THIS 2006 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER


WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 837 declares the month of November 1991 and every year thereafter as “Library and Information Services Month”;

WHEREAS, the Local Government Code mandates local government units to ensure that knowledge and information are easily accessible to anyone in all walks of life;

WHEREAS, that in these dynamic and competitive times, libraries are not just book repositories but vital centers of knowledge and information;

WHEREAS, information defines a nation’s success, hence, the access to quality and current research information offered by libraries is the core of knowledge and learning;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D. Marzan, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to adopt, as it hereby adopts the month of November as Library Information Month this 2006 and every year thereafter.

RESOLVED FURTHER, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, let a copy of this Resolution be furnished to the 17 barangays for their information and guidance.
