RESOLUTION NO. 159

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO SECURE A DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES (DENR) BATHING PERMIT FOR MAYANGA ISLAND AND OTHER ISLANDS SURROUNDING OR WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF OLONGAPO CITY

WHEREAS, consistent with its platform for long-term city development through environment and ecology conservation in conjunction with the city’s tourism programs, there is a need to enhance and intensify initiatives for the conservation of natural resources surrounding or within the city’s area of jurisdiction;

WHEREAS, there are islands historically situated near, surrounding within the metes and bounds of Olongapo City such as the Mayanga Island and other unidentified islands (a.k.a. Gaviota Island, Castle Rock, Oyster Rock and others) which maybe of great public benefit and utility to the citizens of Olongapo;

WHEREAS, to ensure the preservation, development, proper utilization and maximization of the public benefit of the said islands, there is a need to secure a bathing permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for public benefit in a manner consistent with law;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Aquilino Y. Cortez, Jr. with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to secure a Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bathing Permit for Mayanga Island and other islands surrounding or within the jurisdiction of Olongapo City.
