RESOLUTION NO. 186

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE CITY SOCIAL WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICE (CSWDO) FOR THEIR ARDENT EFFORTS SIGNIFICANT FOR OLONGAPO CITY TO PLACE SECOND TO THIS YEAR’S SEARCH FOR THE OUTSTANDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (VAW)-RESPONSIVE LGU AWARD

WHEREAS, Olongapo City takes pride as it placed second in the year – long Search for Outstanding VAW – Responsive LGUs launched by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Women’s Crisis Center (WCC), Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), and the Coalition Against Trafficking of Women in Asia-Pacific (CATW-AP);

WHEREAS, along with the eleven (11) LGU- nominees, Olongapo was recognized for its women empowerment programs, gender development and VAW awareness campaigns to its 17 barangays and the operation of the Women’s Center, a home for women in crises, where the City Social Welfare and Development Office had taken frontline, arduous and focused efforts to;

WHEREAS, the CSWDO in close coordination with the City Council Committees on Women, Children and Livelihood Development as well as with the organized women’s groups and other non-government organizations (NGOs), elevated the City’s awareness on VAW and provided interventions which include rescue, counseling, training, livelihood and medical assistance, sheltering and administration of justice to the victims;

WHEREAS, Olongapo City which placed second to Naga City for a matter of points stands proud of this affirmation that its programs indeed reach and address the core issues of its constituents and emboldens participation of all sectors, with all its positive impact enriching their lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Elena C. Dabu, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to commend, as it hereby commends the City Social Welfare And Development Office (CSWDO) for their ardent efforts significant for Olongapo City to place second to this year’s Search For The Outstanding Violence Against Women (VAW)-Responsive LGU Award.
