A RESOLUTION  COMMENDING VICTORIJA EVANIA ASTOR DELDIO FOR BEING THE FIRST FILIPINO TO QUALIFY FOR THE OLYMPICS TRIATHLON EVENT TO REPRESENT THE COUNTRY AT THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

 (YOG) AT NANJING, CHINA ON AUGUST 16-28, 2014

WHEREAS, the Youth Olympic Games (YOB), multi-sports event and the youth version of the Olympic Games, is an international event organized by the International Olympics Committee. It has both the summer and winter version held every  four (4 ) years;

WHEREAS, the City of Olongapo encourages and supports sports undertakings that promote and display local skills and talents;

WHEREAS, the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) informed the City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino that the City’s very own Victorija Evania Astor Deldio is the first Filipino triathlete to qualify in the Olympics Triathlon Event to represent the country at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) at Nanjing, China on August 16-28, 2014;

WHEREAS, the 16 year old triathlete  placed fifth (5^th) overall in the Asian qualifying race. She made a record of one hour, eleven minutes and thirty seconds (1:11:30) in the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run course;

WHEREAS, Victorija Evania Astor Deldio, the daughter of Ms. Catherine  Astor, finished her secondary school at the Regional Science High School of Olongapo City, and an incoming freshman at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, where she was granted a track and field scholarship;

WHEREAS, Victorija’s outstanding achievement brought pride and honor for the City of Olongapo;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of Sangguniang Panlungsod  present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in the session assembled, to commend, as it hereby commends Victorija Evania Astor Deldio for being the first Filipino to qualify for the Olympic Triathlon Event to  represent the country at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) at Nanjing, China on August 16-28, 2014.
