A RESOLUTION STRONGLY URGING
THE CITY MAYOR AND THE OLONGAPO
CITY POLICE OFFICE TO CAUSE THE IMMEDIATE
REMOVAL OF CHRISTMAS BAZAAR AT COLUMBAN STREET
WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Agreement was engaged by the City Mayor Honorable Rolen
C. Paulino with Bez Finds Exhibit represented by its agent Mr. Sonny Boy M.
Bayantol regarding the conduct of Christmas Bazaar from October 10, 2014 to January 31, 2015;
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 23, Series of 2014, an ordinance temporary closing
portion of Columban Street from the corner of Magsaysay Drive to corner of
Fendler Street starting October 10, 2014 to January 31, 2015 in line with
the operation of Olongapo City Christmas Bazaar was also enacted, approved by
the City Mayor on 10 October 2014;
WHEREAS, following the Memorandum of Agreement and the road closure ordinance
wherein the effectivity of the operation of the Christmas Bazaar has already
expired, it is but appropriate and timely for the City Council to urge the City
Mayor for the immediate removal of the Christmas Bazaar located at Columban
Street;
WHEREAS, local business establishments and local vendors who are legitimate
taxpayers are also pleading for the removal of the Christmas Bazaar which has
already served its purpose since Christmas time has also already passed, and
this is the time for them to make up for reduced profits;
WHEREAS, the continuous operation of the night
market/Christmas Bazaar on a non-yuletide season would cause further economic
loss to local businessmen and vendors;
NOW,
THEREFORE,
with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,
RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the
Sangguniang Panlungsod in session
assembled strongly urge, as it hereby strongly urges the
City Mayor and the Olongapo City Police Office to cause the immediate removal
of Christmas bazaar at Columban Street.
Let a copy of this
resolution be furnished to the Office of the City Mayor the Olongapo City Police Office and the DILG
for their information and appropriate action.
