RESOLUTION NO. 151

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ACCEPT DONATIONS FROM GUAM SHIPYARD

WHEREAS, Guam Shipyard, the operator of one of the world’s biggest floating drydock located in Santa Rita, Guam is one of the Island’s largest employer specializing in ship-repair and industrial services;

WHEREAS, said shipyard recognizes Olongapo and Subic Bay workers experience in ship repair and the continuing skills training program being undertaken by Olongapo City thus intends to hire Olongapeños to beef up their workforce;

WHEREAS, Guam Shipyard will be donating materials for training, trade testing and competency assessment of Olongapo applicants for Guam Shipyard;

WHEREAS, Olongapo City is grateful of the recognition by the Guam Shipyard on the ability, world class skills, experiences and qualifications of its workforce;

WHEREAS, the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod deem it best to authorize the City Mayor to accept donations from Guam Shipyard that can all be used for the City’s Manpower Development and Employment Assistance Programs;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edwin J. Piano, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it is hereby authorizes Honorable City Mayor James Gordon Jr. to Accept Donations from Guam Shipyard.

Let copies of shipping documents and the authenticated deed of donation be an integral part of this resolution.
