A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER, EXECUTE AND SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SISTER SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE GORDON COLLEGE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MAKATI FOR PURPOSES OF CAPABILITY ENHANCEMENT, CAPACITY BUILDING, AND SHARING OF BEST PRACTICES, IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH LAW.

WHEREAS, Gordon College, from a vocational-technical school has evolved into a respected educational institution, winning competitions, securing high passing percentages in board examinations, and gaining recognition in various academic and non-academic fields, not only in the region but also on the national level;

WHEREAS, in its efforts to eventually evolve into a university, with its on-going initiatives for accreditation, and proposals for re-evaluation and rationalization of existing course offerings to ensure that the degrees offered are responsive to employment demands, Gordon College deems it necessary to enter into a Memorandum of Undertaking with the University of Makati;

WHEREAS, in its quest to provide enhanced services to the community, and in addition to its existing community extension services, Gordon College seeks to enhance its capacity and capabilities through partnership with other educational institutions with a proven and strong track record both in public service to the marginalized and underprivileged sectors and in terms of academic performance;

WHEREAS, as per recent review of Local Government Unit (LGU) run educational institutions, the University of Makati emerged as among the best with its modern equipment, highly competent academic personnel, and its social welfare component rendering service to the underprivileged and marginalized residents of Makati City, with vast provisions for scholarships and students support mechanisms;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of city Councilor Eyrma Yvette Marzan-Estrella, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize as it hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to enter, execute and sign a Memorandum of Undertaking for the establishment of a Sister School/University relationship between the Gordon College and the University of Makati for purposes of capability enhancement, capacity building, and sharing of best practices, in a manner consistent with law.
