A RESOLUTION EXTENDING HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SPECIAL PROGRAM IN ARTS OLONGAPO YOUTH CHOIR (SPA-OYC) AND EXPRESSING UTMOST ELATION FOR THEIR WELL-DESERVED DOUBLE VICTORY IN THE 1st ASIAN CHOIR GAMES HELD IN JAKARTA, INDONESIA


WHEREAS, the City of Olongapo, under the leadership of Honorable Mayor James Bong Gordon Jr., constantly pledges itself to supporting worthwhile activities that reflect the City’s culture and values;

WHEREAS, the Olongapo City National High School Special Program in Arts established the highly-talented Olongapo Youth Choir with the objective of bringing pride to the City and the country;

WHEREAS, the Asian Choir Games, conceptualized as taking the Olympic ideal into the arts, arose from the dream to peacefully unify all nations and its people through music;

WHEREAS, the 1st Asian Choir Games was scheduled on November 2 to 10, 2007 in Jakarta, Indonesia;

WHEREAS, the Special Program in Arts Olongapo Youth Choir (SPA-OYC) saw the opportunity, assiduously sought financial support with the help of their colleagues and families and registered in the Championship level;

WHEREAS, unfazed by fear and competition, the Special Program in Arts Olongapo Youth Choir bagged two SILVER AWARDS in the Musica Sacra A Capella and Gospel & Spiritual Championship Categories under the impressive training and baton of Ms. Jenivee Tolentino;

WHEREAS, the Philippine flag is hoisted once again for this double achievement, for which their home City of Olongapo is truly proud of;

NOW, THEREFORE, upon the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to extend as it hereby extends heartfelt congratulations to the Special Program in Arts Olongapo Youth Choir (SPA-OYC) and expressing utmost elation for their well-deserved double victory in the 1st Asian Choir Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished the Special Program in Arts Olongapo Youth Choir (SPA-OYC) for their record and the Public Affairs Office for information dissemination.
