RESOLUTION NO. 115

A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO THE KATIPUNAN NG MGA BANTAY BAYAN NG PILIPINAS (KABAYAN) OLONGAPO CITY FOR THEIR VOLUNTARY SERVICE IN WITNESSING THE TRANSFER AND DESTRUCTION OF PHP5.3 BILLION WORTH OF DANGEROUS DRUGS

WHEREAS, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority seized last May 28, 2008 contrabands containing more than 700kg of dangerous drugs (Shabu) with the estimated value of 4.5 Billion Pesos;

WHEREAS, the said contraband was ordered burned by Honorable Judge Raymond Viray of the Regional Trial Court Branch 75 in accordance with Section 21 of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act Of 2002”;

WHEREAS, the Dangerous Drugs Board thru its implementing arm, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) caused the destruction of the Dangerous Drugs in their custody such as opium and marijuana and the more than 700 kilos of shabu seized at the Subic Bay Freeport totalling to PhP5.3 Billion;

WHEREAS, conscious that the said Dangerous Drugs could have destroyed thousands of lives if not have been intercepted, the Kabayan, heed the call to witness its destruction held in Trece Martirez, Cavite notwithstanding the imminent danger and the long tiresome travel to Cavite which started at one o’clock in the morning and returned home past six o’clock in the evening;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to appreciate, as it hereby appreciates the Katipunan ng mga Bantay Bayan ng Pilipinas (KABAYAN) Olongapo City for their voluntary service in witnessing the transfer and destruction of PhP5.3 Billion worth of Dangerous Drugs.
