RESOLUTION NO. 160
(Series of 2009)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR HON. JAMES GORDON JR. TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE SUBIC BAY DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT CORPORATION (SBDMC), INCORPORATED REPRESENTED BY ITS CORPORATE PRESIDENT, MR. JEFF LIN REGARDING THE “ECO-FARM-PRODUCTIVITY THROUGH CONSERVATION” PROJECT

WHEREAS, Olongapo City in its thrust to provide continuing programs to alleviate poverty will soon launch the “ECO-FARM – Productivity through Conservation”, a proposed agricultural project towards the productive use of idle lands;

WHEREAS, through joint efforts with SBDMC, Incorporated, the project ushers Olongapo City and its identified cluster of indigent citizens to occupy and cultivate the vacant lot along the Subic Bay Gateway Park for agricultural purposes and shall be entitled then to all the natural/industrial fruits of the cultivated land at a sharing scheme of 80% for GAPO-UBSP (a cluster of indigents), 10% for Olongapo City and 10% for SBDMC;

WHEREAS, the City sees that the said agricultural project will not only provide opportunities and trainings for identified poor citizens combat food security concerns, but will also boost food production as a venture to address malnutrition as well as pass on bedrock principles about the wise use of untapped resources, such as vacant time, idle lots and other resources which most people thought of no use at all;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Elena C. Dabu with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor, Hon. James Gordon, Jr. to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Subic Bay Development Management Corporation (SBDMC), Incorporated represented by its Corporate President, Mr. Jeff Lin regarding the “Eco-Farm-Productivity Through Conservation” Project.
