A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE PHILIPPINE POSTAL CORPORATION REPRESENTED BY ITS POSTMASTER GENERAL AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER MR. HECTOR VILLANUEVA FOR THE PRINTING AND ISSUANCE OF COMMEMORATIVE STAMPS DEPICTING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF OLONGAPO’S TURN-OVER FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, Olongapo City will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its turn over from the American Government to the Philippine Government on December 7, 2009;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Postal Corporation, being the sole government entity mandated under the laws of the Philippines produces, prints, circulates and sells commemorative stamps;
WHEREAS, the city government in commemoration of its 50th anniversary requested the Philippine Postal Corporation to print circulate, and sell commemorative stamps depicting the momentous event;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Postal Corporation has approved the said request;
NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Edwin J. Piano, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;
RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes Honorable City Mayor James Gordon Jr. to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Philippine Postal Corporation represented by its Postmaster General and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Hector Villanueva for the printing and issuance of commemorative stamps depicting the 50th Anniversary of Olongapo’s turn over from the United States of America to the Philippine Government.
