A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER, EXECUTE AND SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE OFFICE OF THE CIVIL DEFENSE-DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENSE/NATIONAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT COUNCIL EXECUTING AGENCY FOR THE AVAILMENT OF DIGITAL SHAPE FILES OF OLONGAPO CITY HAZARD MAPS IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH LAW

WHEREAS, the city is witness to the various natural disasters experienced by the city and the entire country, with the latest being typhoon Sendong experienced by Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Cities;

WHEREAS, the city itself underwent challenges in disaster management with the onslaught of various typhoons and its corollary dangers such as with typhoons Pedring and Quiel, the danger posed by rock formations at Mt. Balimpuyo, Tabacuhan, Sta. Rita Area, among others;

WHEREAS, the city has endeavored in additional initiatives such as the recent set-up of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology equipment which detect seismic activities and which help mitigate risks posed by natural disaster;

WHEREAS, consistent with the city’s efforts of engaging in additional efforts to ensure an enhance risk-mitigating there is a need to upgrade the digital shape files showing hazard maps of the Olongapo City;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Eduardo J. Piano, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize as it hereby authorizes, the Honorable City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to Enter, Execute and Sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Office of the Civil Defense-Department of National Defense/National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Executing Agency for the Availment of Digital Shape Files of Olongapo City Hazard Maps in a Manner Consistent with Law
