RESOLUTION NO. 81

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR.
TO SIGN THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN GORDON COLLEGE AND
JOLLIBEE FOODS CORPORATION FOR THE SKILLS ENHANCEMENT AND EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS (SEEDS) PROGRAM TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO PURSUE THEIR POST-SECONDARY STUDIES, IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH LAW

WHEREAS, the City places prime value on education and in facilitating educational support for the youth of Olongapo through partnerships with the private sector which provide either full or partial scholarship or arrangements practical and viable for availment;

WHEREAS, after several dialogues with the Jollibee Foods Corporation the City was able to forge a partnership with the said entity for the provision of post-secondary scholarship whereby the underprivileged students would be allowed to pursue their post-secondary education under the following arrangements: (a) the beneficiary Student-Trainee shall be require to enroll in and complete fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) units of collegiate courses in Gordon College for two (2) consecutive semesters per academic year and three (3) to six (6) units during summer term; (b) should Gordon College observe a trimester academic calendar, a Student-Trainee shall enroll in and complete a minimum of twelve (12) to fifteen (15) units collegiate courses per term; (c) Jollibee Foods Corporation shall provide financial assistance to the Student-Trainee in the form of an interest-free tuition fee loan, which shall be paid directly to the Gordon College; (d) Jollibee Foods Corporation shall provide training to augment the beneficiary Student-Trainee’s classroom learning through practical skills training and values formation;

WHEREAS, under the SEEDS Program, the student beneficiary shall benefit from the Jollibee Foods Corporation interest free loan facility with the corresponding training to allow them to finish their course and secure gainful employment;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of city Councilor Eyrma Yvette Marzan-Estrella, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize as it hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to sign the Memorandum of Agreement between Gordon College and Jollibee Foods Corporation for the Skills Enhancement And Education Development of Students (SEEDS) Program to allow students to pursue their post-secondary studies, in a manner consistent with law.
