A RESOLUTION  AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR, HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE JAMES L. GORDON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WITH THE NATIONAL KIDNEY AND TRANSPLANT INSTITUTE (NKTI), REPRESENTED BY ITS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, JOSE DANTE P. DATOR, M.D. AS REGARDS TO

 THE HUMAN ORGAN PRESERVATION EFFORT (HOPE)

WHEREAS,  many Filipinos are afflicted with end-stage organ failure, an incapacitating disease with organ transplant as the only chance for survival;

WHEREAS, as a  universally  accepted mode of medical treatment, there is a long line of patients on organ waiting list, are indeed gravely ill, adding to the fact that there is a scarcity of sources for transplantable organs in the country and worldwide;

WHEREAS, through the Human Organ Preservation Effort (HOPE), the deceased organ procurement arm of the National Kidney Transplant Institute (NKTI)  regarding awareness and acceptance of kidney plantation and organ donation can be achieved benefitting largely patients needing organ transplantation for survival;

WHEREAS, through an agreement with NKTI, the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, as a tertiary hospital, will be constituted as an organ donor hospital by referring to NKTI HOPE patients qualified for the said program process;

NOW, THEREFORE,  with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present:

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor, Honorable Rolen C. Paulino, to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement for and on behalf of the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), represented by its Executive Director, Jose Dante P. Dator, M.D. as regards to the Human Organ Preservation Effort (HOPE).
