A RESOLUTION COMMENDING LINDSAY WHALEY AND YASMIN MAY ELAURIA OF OLONGAPO CITY, TWO OF THE 18 ATHLETES OF THE PHILIPPINE U14 GIRL’S FOOTBALL TEAM WHICH WON SECOND PLACE IN THE ASIAN FOOTBALL  CONFEDERATION (AFC) U14 GIRL’S REGIONAL  CHAMPIONSHIP

WHEREAS, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of the Association of Football in Asia where the AFC U14  Girls’s Regional Championship is its annual  international competition;

WHEREAS, Philippine U14 Girls Team  won silver medal placing second in the  AFC’s U14 Girl’s Regional Championship 2014,  held at  Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, on  June 10- 15, 2014. It was  participated by seven (7) nations in the ASEAN region;

WHEREAS, the Philippine also received the Fair Play award for the tournament which gives recognition to the team who was observed to have the “greatest respect for the game” ;

WHEREAS, two among the 18 athletes in the Philippine National Team hails from Olongapo City namely: Lindsay Whaley and Yasmin May Elauria;

WHEREAS, Lindsay Whaley , striker of the Philippine U14 Girl’s Football team, was born on May 1, 2000. She is in Grade 8 at Casa Kalayan International School;

WHEREAS, Yasmin May Elauria , goalkeeper  of  Philippine U14 Girl’s Football team, was born in Olongapo City  on February 17, 2000, she is in Grade 8 at the  Olongapo City National High School;

WHEREAS, the  outstanding performance of our two athletes deserves to be commended for the honor  and recognition they brought not only to our City but also to our country;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Emerito Linus D. Bacay, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sanggunian Panlungsod present:

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to commend  as it hereby commends Lindsay Whaley and Yasmin May Elauria of Olongapo City,  two of the 18 athletes of the Philippines  U14 Girl’s Football Team which won second place  in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC ) U14 Girl’s Regional Championship.
