RESOLUTION NO. 158
(Series of 2006)

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND RECOGNIZING THE ACTS OF GERARDO O. SUMAGUE AND ANGELIN S. DANILA, EMPLOYEES OF SUBIC INTERNATIONAL HOTEL BOTH FROM OLONGAPO CITY FOR HAVING SHOWN THE TRUE IDEALS OF HONESTY IN RETURNING VALUABLE ITEMS AND CASH AMOUNTING TO Y61,000.00 AND PHP2,750.00 TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER NORIAKI YAMAMOTO


WHEREAS, it has been proven in several occasions the instinctive good traits of Filipino people which has been widely known to the world as the showcase of moral and behavioral upright;

WHEREAS, one of such instinctive good traits of the Filipino people is strong adherence to true ideals of honesty;

WHEREAS, the true ideals of honesty have been manifested on several incidents in different parts of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the City of Olongapo has been regarded as a city of character, a city whose vision and mission lies in the molding of its people for a better citizenry;

WHEREAS, the City of Olongapo is the home of two great persons who have shown the meaning of honesty who could have been easily tempted to gain from their discovery of valuable items and cash in the light of the present economic woes;

WHEREAS, On July 28, 2006 Mr. Gerardo Sumague and Angelin Danila found a black leather wallet containing Visa Card, ATM Cards, cash amounting to Y61,000 and Php2,750 inside room 410 Alpha Building, Subic International Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone;

WHEREAS, immediately the lost valuable items and cash were turned over to the Executive Assistant Manager Angelito Filamor and in turn the latter turned over the same to Ms. Ana Lat Staff of General Affairs, NIDEC where the owner Noriaki Yamamoto is connected;

WHEREAS, both Gerardo Sumague and Angelin Danila both hailed from Olongapo City, the former started as a trainee until his permanent employment as a houseman on February 1, 2004;

WHEREAS, Gerardo Sumague has established a systematic approach in his work, exceptionally accurate, neat and complete in details;

WHEREAS, on the other hand, Angelin Danila is one of the volunteers of SBMA and eventually hired as Room Attendant/Linen Attendant on November 24, 1997 and has been nominated as Employee of the Month for three (3) times from 1992 to 1999. On January 25, 2000 she was promoted as Linen Supervisor. She was awarded as Supervisor of the Month last March 2000 and received Loyalty Award for rendering ten (10) years of service;

WHEREAS, when the two (2) honest employees were asked if they had entertained in keeping the lost valuable items and cash for their own benefits they readily replied, “May be God merely tested me” according to Angelin Danila whereas Gerardo Sumague manifested on how they can stand up to the true ideals of honesty;

WHEREAS, the exemplary deeds of these two true blooded Olongapenos should serve as a role model to our citizenry for them to emulate and set as an example for nothing in this world is so more precious than the good we have done to our fellow men;

NOW, THEREFORE, upon the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to commend and recognize, as it hereby commends and recognizes, the acts of Gerardo O. Sumague and Angelin S. Danila, employees Of Subic International Hotel, both from Olongapo City for having shown the true ideals of honesty in returning valuable items and cash amounting to Y61,000.00 and Php2,750 to its rightful owner Noriaki Yamamoto.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished Mr. Gerardo O. Sumague, Ms. Angelin S. Danila and the Management of Subic International Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone for their information and record.
