RESOLUTION NO. 200
(Series of 2007)

A RESOLUTION CONVEYING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE
BEREAVED FAMILY OF MRS. LYDIA T. ELA


WHEREAS, the City Government of Olongapo pays solemn tribute to the memory of Mrs. Lydia T. Ela, wife of Atty. Pedro L. Ela and an active woman leader of the community;

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ela who passed on at the age of 77, led a long and productive life which touched everyone who knew her. She served as the Past President of the Inner Wheel Club of Olongapo, Kababaihan Rizalista, City Chapter, Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) of the United Methodist Church and received numerous awards for her distinguished leadership;

WHEREAS, memories of her revealed how her family and her church were so intrinsically part of her life. She handled key positions as Treasurer of the District WSCS, Chair of the Stewardship Committee and an active member of the Social Concerns of the local church. From arranging flowers for church services and serving in feeding programs to planning and overseeing activities for family ministries, Mrs. Ela was there to positively influence others;

WHEREAS, through her generosity and support, many young people were sent off to leadership camps, trainings and retreats where they learned and are developed to be productive movers of the church and the community. Today, these youngsters carve significant niches in their fields and stand as role models of the society;

WHEREAS, the District Manager of Prudential Life Plan Incorporated, Zambales, the Past Bethel Guardian of the International Order of Job’s Daughters for 10 years, an active member of the Olongapo City Fiesta Ladies Committee for three years, the Olongapo Civic Action Group (OCAG) and the Ulo ng Apo Awards Committee, Mrs. Ela was not just admired for her exemplary conduct but she had touched many because of the goodness of her heart;

WHEREAS, a wife of noble character and a doting mother, she made her home a place for love and compassion specially for the less fortunate, nestled in their hearts Christian values and unleashed her children for active involvement;

WHEREAS, the City shares in the grief of the Ela Family and prays that they will feel God’s enduring presence in this moment of great loss;

NOW, THEREFORE, on joint motion of Councilors Gina G. Perez, Rodel S. Cerezo, Marey Beth D. Marzan, Edwin J. Piano, Angelito W. Baloy, Aquilino W. Cortez, Jr., Anselmo A. Aquino and Elena C. Dabu with the unanimous accord of the of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to convey, as it hereby conveys deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of Mrs. Lydia T. Ela.

Let a copy of this Resolution be furnished the bereaved family of Mrs. Lydia T. Ela for their information and record.
