A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) WITH THE COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY REPRESENTED BY MANUEL A. MAR, REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF RA 6938 OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE COOPERATIVE CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES


WHEREAS, Congress enacted Republic Act 6938 otherwise known as The Cooperative Code of the Philippines which promotes the development of cooperatives as a practical vehicle for promoting self-reliance and empowering people towards the attainment of economic development and social justice;

WHEREAS, the City Government recognizes the important role of cooperatives in uplifting human lives specially during the times of economic hardships thru the creation of Olongapo City Cooperative Development Council;

WHEREAS, Section 2 of RA 6939 states that the government and all its branches, subdivisions, and agencies shall ensure the provisions of technical guidance, financial assistance and other services to enable the development of cooperatives;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Elena C. Dabu, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with The Cooperative Development Authority represented by Manuel A. Mar, Regional Director for the implementation of RA 6938 otherwise known as The Cooperative Code of the Philippines.
