A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT TO SENATE BILL NO. 2225 SPONSORED BY SENATOR LOREN LEGARDA ENTITLED “AN ACT AMENDING TITLE I, CHAPTER 3, OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 209, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE FAMILY CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES PRESCRIBING AN ADDITIONAL GROUND FOR ANNULMENT”

            WHEREAS, on May 14, 2014, Senator Loren Legarda sponsored a bill seeking to provide for an additional ground for annulment under Title I, Chapter 3 of Executive Order No. 209;

WHEREAS, under the said Senate Bill, parties who have been separated for a period of at least five (5) years may both mutually seek the annulment of their marriage by proving said fact of separation;

WHEREAS, the filing of annulment under the Family Code of the Philippines is tedious, difficult, lengthy and expensive;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid bill caters to those who cannot afford legal services by making litigation as simple and expedient as possible.

NOW, THEREFORE,  with the unanimous accord of  the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to express, as it hereby expresses its support to Senate Bill No. 2225 sponsored by Senator Loren Legarda entitled “An Act Amending Title I, Chapter 3, Of Executive Order No. 209, Otherwise Known As The Family Code Of The Philippines, Prescribing An Additional Ground For Annulment.”
