RESOLUTION NO. 111
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION REITERATING THE CITY’S STAND ON THE WATER TARIFF INCREASE IMPLEMENTED BY SUBICWATER AND SEWERAGE CORPORATION AND ENDORSING THE PETITION OF ITS PEOPLE IN LINE WITH THE SAID INCREASE TO THE SUBIC BAY WATER REGULATORY BOARD (SBWRB) AND THE SUBIC BAY METROPOLITAN AUTHORITY (SBMA) FOR THEIR APPROPRIATE AND IMMEDIATE ACTION

WHEREAS, the Olongapo Sangguniang Panlungsod has a standing Resolution opposing the water tariff increase of Subic Water and Sewerage Company Incorporated as passed and signed by the majority of its members on September 24,2003;

WHEREAS, the Olongapo City Officials have long recognized that an additional burden in the already miserable plight of its constituents is already inevitable should another increase be implemented by the aforementioned water company.

WHEREAS, last June 2005, another increase in Subic Water rates was proposed to accommodate the water company’s needs to provide better service to the City which will cover technical upgrading and changing of systems;

WHEREAS, for and in behalf of the Olongapo constituents, the City leadership deems that the increase is not only inappropriate but likewise untimely and prejudicial to the people;

WHEREAS, however, the City Government of Olongapo endeavors that good understanding and healthy business relation between Subic Water and the Olongapo City consumers be fostered and as such deems that the endorsement of the said petition Subic
Bay Water Regulatory Board (SBWRB) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority

(SBMA) is necessary, since they are the governing bodies to decide on the issues regarding water tariff increases;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to reiterate, as it hereby reiterates the City’s stand on the water tariff increase implemented by Subicwater and Sewerage Corporation and endorsing the petition of its people in line with the said increase to the Subic Bay Water Regulatory Board (SBWRB) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) for their appropriate and immediate action.
