RESOLUTION NO. 116
(Series of 2006)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR TO COMMISSION THE RESEARCH AND DRAFT OF THE OLONGAPO COFFEE TABLE BOOK

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the Philippines under Arts and Culture Section 14 states that “The State shall foster the preservation, enrichment, and dynamic evolution of a Filipino national culture based on the principle of unity in diversity in a climate of free artistic and intellectual expression”;

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the Philippines under Arts and Culture Section 18 Paragraph 2 states that “The State shall encourage and support researches and studies on the arts and culture”;

WHEREAS, art, literature and culture reflects the quality of life and foster national identity; and embodies the achievements, dreams and hope of the people;

WHEREAS, the coffee table books one form of literature which integrates arts, culture and history;

WHEREAS, the documentation of vital information about the history and culture of the Olongapeños is essential for the preservation of the history of the Olongapo City community;

WHEREAS, the said book will serve as a tribute to those who looked to our future needs and wants the dreamers and the builders of tomorrow;

WHEREAS, unlike regular history book, more people will be enthusiastic to browse and read a Coffee Table Book for it features more interesting topics which includes not only artifacts but also other documents, events and features that Olongapo City currently takes pride on;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D. Marzan, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor to commission the research and draft of the Olongapo Coffee Table Book.
