RESOLUTION NO. 15

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HON. CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER, EXECUTE AND SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT, OVERSEAS WORKERS WELFARE ADMINISTRATION (OWWA) FOR THE DELIVERY OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS (OFW) IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH LAW

WHEREAS, the city advocates the rights of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and pursues the delivery of assistance and services to improve and protect their welfare, especially of those belonging to local communities;

WHEREAS, the city recognizes the necessity to deliver the OWWA programs immediately to avoid unnecessary delay for the processing and implementation of the services;

WHEREAS, the city supports the programs that will enhance and safeguard the interest of our Overseas Filipino Workers;

WHEREAS, the City Government has an opportunity to further enhance its partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, OWWA through a formalized partnership agreement delving on the establishment of an OFW Migrant desk manned by OWWA staff or OWWA trained staff at the Public Employment Services Office premises or as may be otherwise designated by the City of Olongapo;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Eduardo J. Piano, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it is hereby authorizes the Hon. City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to enter, execute and sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department Labor and Employment, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for the delivery of programs and services for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in a manner consistent with law.
