A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR, HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT – REGIONAL

OFFICE III REPRESENTED BY ITS REGIONAL DIRECTOR, MR. RAYMUNDO G. AGRAVANTE, FOR THE FULL INSTITUTIONALIZATION OF PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT SERVICE OFFICE (PESO) – OLONGAPO

WHEREAS, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is a government agency concerned with employment promotion, facilitation, regulation, and labor market information and statistics;

WHEREAS, the Public Employment Service Office or “PESO” is a community-based, maintained largely by local government units (LGUs) and a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or community-based organizations (CBOs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs) established to carry out and provide full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all;

WHEREAS, the PESO stands to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government particularly at the local levels;

WHEREAS, the PESO shall be linked to the regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for coordination and technical supervision, and to the DOLE central office, to constitute the national employment service network;

WHEREAS, for PESO Olongapo to maximize the benefits of linking with national agencies a Memorandum of Agreement with the DOLE Regional Office No.III is deemed necessary;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edna A. Elane, with the unanimous accord of the Members of Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor, Honorable Rolen C. Paulino to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Office III represented by its Regional Director, Mr. Raymundo G. Agravante, for the full Institutionalization of Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Olongapo

Let a copy of the signed Memorandum of Agreement be made as an integral part of this resolution.
