A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE OLONGAPO CITY STUDENT

ATHLETES FOR WINNING IN THE PALARONG PAMBANSA 2014

WHEREAS, the Palarong Pambansa, an annual multi-sports event for Filipino student athletes gathers the best student of every participating schools in the country for a neutral field to test their abilities and an opportunity to build the spirit of sportsmanship and the spirit of camaraderie;

WHEREAS, the 2014 Palarong Pambansa was successfully held at Sta. Cruz, Laguna on May 4-10, 2014 producing the best students in the field of sports and discovering new potentials among the youth of the nation;

WHEREAS, the City of Olongapo equally shares the triumph, lauds the coaches, trainers and its entire delegation, and takes pride particularly with the honor won by the following student athlete-participants:

RESOLVED, A S IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to commend, as it hereby commends the Olongapo City Student Athletes for winning in the Palarong Pambansa 2014.

Let copies of this resolution be furnished the Department of Education, Olongapo City, the City Sports Office and the participating schools in the elementary and high school levels.

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE OLONGAPO CITY ATHLETES

FOR WINNING IN THE 2014 PHILIPPINE NATIONAL GAMES

WHEREAS, the Philippine National Games, is an annual sports event in the country revived in 2011. The Philippine Sports Commission, the lead agency, in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Olympics Committee (POC), and the National Sports Association (NSA) invites participation from various local government units of their best athletes;

WHEREAS, the Philippine National Games aims to assess what Filipino athletes are made of and possibly become the basis and venue for the selection for the Philippine Delegation.

WHEREAS, in the 2014 Philippine National Games held in Metro Manila on May 16 – 25, 2014, the City of Olongapo Delegates won in the following sports categories:

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR, HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER INTO, EXECUTE AND SIGN THE MEMOR ANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE JAMES L. GORDON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH REGIONAL OFFICE III, REPRESENTED BY DR. LEONITA A. GORGOLAN, REGIONAL DIRECTOR WITH REGARD TO THE MEDICAL HEALTH CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (MHCAP) FOR INDIGENT PATIENTS

WHEREAS, pursuant to Republic Act No.10633, otherwise known as the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for Fiscal Year 2014, a total of Fourteen Million Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP14,200,000.00) have been allocated to the Department of Health Regional Office III intended as assistance to indigent patients;

WHEREAS, the Department of Health Regional Office III has been providing assistance to indigent patients seeking consultation or being admitted to government hospitals through the MEDICAL HEALTH CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (MHCAP) of the Office of the Secretary which is financed out of said allocation;

WHEREAS, the Department of Health Regional Office III is authorized to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Local Government Units (LGUs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Hospitals pursuant to Administrative Order No. 2014-0013 dated April 07, 2014;

WHEREAS, the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital operating under the City Government of Olongapo is willing to participate in order to provide assistance to indigent patients;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Eduardo G. Guerrero, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize as it is hereby authorizes, the City Mayor, Honorable Rolen C. Paulino, to enter into, execute and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for and on behalf of the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital with the Department of Health Regional Office III, Represented by Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolan, Regional director with regard to the Medical Health Care Assistance Program (MHCAP) for indigent patients.
