A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE RENEWAL OF TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT OF ENGR. ROBERTO E. ALVAREZ AS CITY GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT HEAD II (CITY ENGINEER) SG-26

WHEREAS, the City Mayor has appointed Engr. Roberto Alvarez as City Department Head II (City Engineer) SG-26;

WHEREAS, Section 454 (d) of Republic Act 7160 otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, provides that heads of departments shall be appointed by the City Mayor with the concurrence of the majority of all members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edwin J. Piano, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to confirm, as it hereby confirms, the renewal of temporary appointment of Engr. Roberto E. Alvarez as City Government Department Head II (City Engineer) SG-26 which effects the appropriation in the amount of Three Hundred Twenty Seven Thousand Pesos (PhP327, 000.00) in the item City Government Head II under the account “Salaries” of the City Engineering Department.

RESOLVED FURTHER, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be furnished Engr. Roberto E. Alvarez and the Civil Service Commission through the Personnel Office of the City of Olongapo for their information and reference.

A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE SISTERHOOD AGREEMENT ENTERED BY AND BETWEEN OLONGAPO CITY REPRESENTED BY THE HONORABLE MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF YONA, GUAM, USA REPRESENTED BY HONORABLE MAYOR JOSE “PEDO” TERLAJE

WHEREAS, the City Council unanimously passed Resolution No. 60, Series of 2009 extending invitation to Guam, USA to become twin-partner of Olongapo City;

WHEREAS, the Municipality of Yona, Guam passed Resolution No. 09-02 adopting a sister-city relationship with the City of Olongapo, Republic of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, Mayor James Gordon, Jr. together with other city officials on invitation of Mayor Jose Terlaje signed the said sisterhood agreement last November 12, 2009 in the District of Yona, Guam;

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to ratify the said Sisterhood Agreement to herald its execution;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edwin J. Piano, in behalf of the majority party and with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to ratify, as it hereby ratifies the Sisterhood Agreement Entered By and Between Olongapo City Represented by the Honorable Mayor James Gordon, Jr. and the Municipality of Yona, Guam, USA Represented by Honorable Mayor Jose “Pedo” Terlaje.

RESOLVED FURTHER, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the signed copy of the sisterhood agreement be made as an integral part of this Resolution.

WHEREAS, Guam Legislature passed Resolution No. 170-30 authorizing Speaker Judith T. Won Pat to sign in behalf of Guam, USA for the sisterhood agreement with Olongapo City;

WHEREAS, Mayor James Gordon, Jr. together with other city officials on invitation of Senator Eddie Calvo of Guam Legislature, signed the said sisterhood agreement last November 13, 2009;

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to ratify the said Sisterhood Agreement to herald its execution;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edwin J. Piano in behalf of the majority party and with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH PEACE CORPS REPRESENTED BY ITS COUNTRY DIRECTOR SONIA DERENONCOURT FOR THE PEACE CORPS RESPONSE PROGRAM

WHEREAS, Peace Corps, a Volunteer Organization established in 1960 aims to help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women;

WHEREAS, Peace Corps program in the Philippines is the second oldest in the Peace Corps history. It began with the arrival of 123 education volunteers in October 1961. Since then, more than 8,000 Volunteers have served in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, Peace Corps continued its projects in the Philippines addressing the country's development priorities through projects in youth, education, environment and business development;

WHEREAS, Peace Corps and Olongapo City agreed to collaborate on a Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation; to select, supervise and support experience Peace Corps Volunteers to work as Peace Corps Response Volunteers in the Philippines with the City Government of Olongapo;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edwin J. Piano, in behalf of the majority party and with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize as it hereby authorizes City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Peace Corps represented by its Country Director Sonia Derenoncourt for the Peace Corps Response Program.
