A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR JAMES GORDON, JR. TO ENTER, EXECUTE AND SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THE CITY OF OLONGAPO FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE “SAGANA LIGTAS NA TUBIG SA LAHAT” PROGRAM IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH LAW

WHEREAS, the national government launched ‘Sagana Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat” Program as one of the government’s major initiatives in addressing the plight of Filipino households in the waterless areas as necessary for the advancement and protection of public health as a key measure of good governance and an anti-poverty program for the marginalized;

WHEREAS, Olongapo through its City Health Office was able to secure the program “Sagana Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat Program” from the Department of Health Center for Health Development for Central Luzon (DOOH-CHD30 which seeks to augment the provision for potable water to barangays as per Department of Health determination;

WHEREAS, under the program, the City shall become a recipient of a Two Million Peso (PHP2,000,000,000) worth project grant, with the city to shoulder ten percent (10% of the total project cost), to be utilized for the provision of potable water for Barangays Sta. Rita and Old Cabalan to be consummated through the Office of the city Engineer;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edna A. Elane, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it is hereby authorizes the Hon. City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. to enter, execute and sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Health and the City of Olongapo for the Implementation of the “Sagana Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat” Program in a manner consistent with law.

RESOLUTION NO. 97

A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF MR. KIEL NIXON MONTANO AS MEMBER OF THE GORDON COLLEGE-BOARD OF TRUSTEES

WHEREAS, pursuant to City Ordinance No. 9, Series of 1999, Olongapo City Colleges now known as Gordon College, was created with the mandate of providing excellent quality education for the poor and deserving students of Olongapo City;

WHEREAS, this responsibility is carried out mainly by the college’s Board of Trustees, comprised by qualified persons including the president of the duly recognized Student Council as specified in Ordinance No. 8, Series of 2010, who will formulate policies and decisions for the attainment of the institution’s mission and vision ;

WHEREAS, Mr. Kiel Nixon Montano currently serves as the Chairman of the Gordon College-Supreme Student Council (GC-SSC), making him a nominee to represent the student body to the Board of Trustees;

WHEREAS, MR. Montano, a Hotel and Restaurant Management student of the College also served as the Treasurer of the GC-SSC before assuming office as the Chairman, where he demonstrated leadership emulated by the studentry;

WHEREAS, in the exigencies of service, Mr. Montano was appointed as interim member of the Board of Trustees pending compliance with pertinent legislative requirements;

WHEREAS, by reason of his experience as a student leader, he epitomizes the values which the youth should emulate, and was thus formally nominated for membership on the said board subject to the required confirmation under pertinent laws;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Eyrma Yvette Marzan-Estrella, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to confirm, as it hereby confirms the appointment of Mr. Kiel Nixon Montano as Member of the Gordon College-Board of Trustees.
