A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER INTO, EXECUTE, AND SIGN FOR THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (DTI) ZAMBALES PROVINCIAL OFFICE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF “TIMBANGAN NG BAYAN PROJECT” IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH LAW

            WHEREAS, Republic Act. 7394, also  known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines, declares as State Policy to protect the interests of consumers, promote general welfare, establish standards of conduct for business and industry, and thus shall implement measures to provide protection against deceptive, unfair and unconscionable sales, acts and practices;

            WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 61 of the Consumer Act, the provincial, city or municipal treasurer shall strictly enforce the provisions of the chapter on Regulations of Practices Relative to Weights and Measures while provisions on the use of Metric System shall be enforced by DTI;

            WHEREAS, the Local Government Unit of Olongapo City  has been identified as a recipient of ten (10) units of Timbangan ng Bayan Facilities;

            WHEREAS, to ensure that consumers are protected from unfair and unconscionable acts and practices, and that they get the best value for money, the DTI established the “Timbangan ng Bayan Project”;

            WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Agreement shall take effect upon signing hereto of the  authorized representatives of DTI-Zambales Provincial Office, LGU Olongapo City and witnesses assigned and shall be terminated upon the satisfactory fulfilment of all terms and conditions embodied herein.

            NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Alreuela M. Bundang-Ortiz, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

  

            RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang  Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino to enter into, execute, and sign for the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales Provincial Office for the implementation of “Timbangan ng Bayan Project” in a manner consistent with law.

A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING SAMUEL MORRISON FOR WINNING A GOLD MEDAL IN THE 28^TH SEA GAMES 2015, HELD ON JUNE 2015 AT SINGAPORE

WHEREAS, the 28th SEA Games is one of the biggest Regional Sports events in the South East Asian Games held in Singapore last June 2015 and participated in by eleven Asian  countries including the Philippines;

WHEREAS, Mr. Samuel Morrison,  a native of  Olongapo City  and  a  member of the Philippine Team who competed and represented the Philippines, triumphantly beat the Vietnamese opponent  in the final event of 56 Kg. Men’s Division in Taekwondo last 14 June 2015;

WHEREAS, “Butch” as he was popularly known, started to show his skills  at the age  of  six, under the guidance of his  Coaches Jun Arlanza and Pablo  C. Alatong.  He had garnered  several awards from other different sports competitions and showed the true spirit of sportsmanship;

WHEREAS, by showing dedication and excellence, he made a distinguished contribution in the field of sports. He also mirror the energy, enthusiasm and determination of  today’s athlete;

WHEREAS, the outstanding performance made by Samuel Morrison rightfully deserve a commendation and congratulations for bringing honor and pride to Olongapo City and the Philippine in general.

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Emerito Linus D. Bacay, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING MR. DARWIN ANTHONY D. ANTIGUA WHO RANKED 10^TH PLACER IN THE MAY 2015 NURSING

 LICENSURE EXAMINATION

            WHEREAS, results of the Nursing Licensure Examination given on May 30-31, 2015 in Manila was released on June 23, 2015;

            WHEREAS, Mr. Darwin Anthony D. Antigua of Gordon College – College of Allied Health Studies, ranked 10^th placer, from among 9,707 who passed the examination;

            WHEREAS, Anthony Antigua, a resident of Mabayuan, Olongapo City, is the Son of Mr. Demetrio Antigua and Ms. Erlinda Antigua, and was born on August 28, 1994;

            WHEREAS, he was also awarded in the Gordon College as a Psychiatric Nurse of the Year, Rank 4 in the Enhancement Program and Rank 3 in the Pre-Board Examination and got the Rank 3 in Carl E. Balita Review Center (CBRC) Diagnostic examination;

            NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Benjamin G. Cajudo II, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,
