RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR, HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO, TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT,
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE RURAL HEALTH
UNIT OF BARANGAYS WEST BAJAC-BAJAC, EAST
AND WEST TAPINAC, WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH REGIONAL OFFICE III, REPRESENTED BY DR. LEONITA P. GORGOLON, REGIONAL
DIRECTOR WITH REGARD TO THE CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION OF TUBERCULOSIS
DIRECTLY OBSERVED TREATMENT SHORT-COURSE (TB-DOTS)
WHEREAS,
Tuberculosis, a treatable and infectious disease, remains a public health
concern and was even ranked 6th
among the leading causes of mortality with a rate of 26.3 deaths for
every 100,000 population in the year 2010;
WHEREAS,
last year, the Region’s engagement
in terms of TB Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) Certification, which consists of
diagnosing cases, treating
patients for 6-8 months with drugs, and
promoting adherence to the relatively difficult treatment regimen is only 29%;
WHEREAS, to scale up the TB DOTS Certification and
Accreditation and assure effectiveness of the program to reach the communities,
a Memorandum of Agreement, providing DOTS facilities, such as the rural health
units in the barangays, certified by the
Department of Health (DOH) through the Regional Offices, as equipped to
provide quality TB services is indeed order. The same shall also generate
financial support through the PhilHealth TB-DOTS outpatient benefit package;
WHEREAS,
it is deemed that the Memorandum of Agreement will pave way for the swift
implementation of the program;
NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor
Eduardo G Guerrero, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang
Panlungsod present,
RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod
in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor,
Honorable Rolen C. Paulino, to enter into and sign a Memorandum of Agreement for
and on behalf of the Rural Health Unit
of Barangays West Bajac-Bajac, East and
West Tapinac with the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office III,
represented by Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon, Regional Director with regard to the
certification and accreditation of Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment
Short-course (TB-DOTS).
