A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE BRAVE AND HEROIC BATANG OLONGAPO

 FROM THE SUBIC BAY METROPOLITAN AUTHORITY (SBMA) FIRE DEPARTMENT DEPLOYED TO NEPAL  TO HELP IN THE SEARCH AND RESCUE AND DAMAGE ASSESSMENT AS A RESULT OF  THE DEVASTATING 7.8 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE THAT STRUCK THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, on April 25, 2015 a magnitude 7.8 Earthquake Struck Nepal, resulting to over seven thousand  persons killed and destroying priceless historic cultural structures;

WHEREAS, on April 29, 2015, the Philippine Red Cross immediately assembled and sent to Nepal a 13 Man Team to conduct Search & Rescue And Damage Assessment;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Rescue Team that was deployed, seven  are from Olongapo – SBMA Fire Department namely:

1. RANI C. CRUZ

2. RANNY MAGNO

3. ROMEO PAULMINO

4. HEDION ESTEBAN

5. EDWIN SANTOS

6. NOEL LAPID

7. JAY-ARR BASA

WHEREAS, these brave rescue personnel proceeded to heavily damaged remote areas of Nepal like Dhading, Budor and Wakmanpur, far-flung areas that takes  four to six  hours of travel by foot to reach;

WHEREAS, the area of operation of these heroic Olongapo rescuers are so dangerous and treacherous that other international rescue teams refuse to proceed there;

WHEREAS, aside from conducting search and rescue of trapped or injured Nepalese, the Philippine Rescue Team also efficiently assembled rub halls or huge tents where relief goods are stored and kept;

WHEREAS, the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) and The International Search & Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) has acknowledged the contributions and bravery of the only Philippine Rescue Team sent to Nepal;

WHEREAS, these Olongapo responders performed the tasks given, above and beyond the call of duty, exemplifying the Filipino bayanihan spirit and malasakit of a true Olongapeño;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present:

RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled  to commend as it hereby commends the brave and heroic Batang Olongapo from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Fire Department deployed to Nepal to help in the Search and Rescue and damage assessment as a result of the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that Struck the country.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HONORABLE CITY MAYOR ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER, EXECUTE, AND SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) WITH LITTLE ANGEL STUDY CENTER, INC. FOR THE IMMERSION OF THEIR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR THEIR PRACTICUM, RESEARCH AND ON-THE-JOB TRAINING STARTING SCHOOL YEAR 2016, IN COMPLIANCE TO DEPED ORDER NO. 4, SERIES OF 2014.

WHEREAS, the Local Government Unit of Olongapo City represented by the Honorable City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino, along with its cooperating agencies, manifest its desire and commitment to serve as partner of the Little Angel Study Center, Inc. in the implementation of its Senior High School (SHS) Program which will make available industries and livelihood areas in the city and provide for students’ immersion during practicum, research and on-the-job training;

WHEREAS, the Little Angel Study Center, Inc. represented by Mrs. Ofelia M. Garcia, School Vice President and Mr. Armadeo M. Limpin, Principal, in compliance to DepEd Order No. 04, Series of 2014 (Guidelines on the Preparation for the National Implementation of the Senior High School (SHS) Program in Non-DepEd Schools for the School Year (SY) 2016-2017 and Onwards) and R.A. No. 10533 Otherwise known as the enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 which mandated the implementation of the K to 12 Program, offers Senior High School (SHS) Program on School Year 2016-2017 and onwards;

WHEREAS, the Little Angel Study Center, Inc. will offer the following specialization:

                           Academic Track

            Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Strands (STEM)

            Accountancy, Business and Management Strand (ABM)

            Humanities and Social Sciences Strand (HUMSS)

            General Academic Strands (GAS)

            WHEREAS, the said specialization program will require exposure on the job training of Senior High School students;

            WHEREAS, with mutual covenant of both parties, they enter into this Memorandum of Agreement under terms and conditions as stated;

WHEREAS, this Memorandum of Agreement shall be binding and effective on School Year 2016 and onwards;

WHEREAS, both parties likewise covenant to faithfully abide and comply with their corresponding obligations stipulated in the agreement.

            NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Benjamin G. Cajudo II, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

            RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the Honorable City Mayor, Hon. Rolen C. Paulino to enter, execute and sign  a Memorandum of Agreement with Little Angel Study Center, Inc., for the immersion of their Senior High School Students for their practicum research and on the job training starting school year 2016 in compliance to DepEd Order No. 4, Series
