A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING ST. JOSEPH’S SCHOOL, NOW KNOWN AS ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE ON ITS 60TH ANNIVERSARY FOR BEING THE PIONEER CATHOLIC SCHOOL OF OLONGAPO CITY

WHEREAS, St. Joseph’s School, now known as St. Joseph’s College was founded in Olongapo City under the Prelature of Iba Zambales by Fr. Michael Moran and was given government recognition later in 1949;

WHEREAS, St. Joseph’s School has remained one of the pillars of Catholic education in Olongapo City and molded the moral and spiritual values of its many students and alumni;

WHEREAS, the school has produced many of Olongapo City’s outstanding leaders in business and politics, as well as the many hardworking and God-fearing citizens;

WHEREAS, the pioneer Catholic school in the City, St. Joseph’s College made great contributions in the community by producing significant number of Volunteers that established the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and government workers that made Olongapo to what it is today, a model and vibrant city.

WHEREAS, the said institution is celebrating its 60th year anniversary and for this the City Government of Olongapo as well as the City Council, join the administration, faculty, students, church organizations and SJS alumni in their festivities and activities from March 12 – 16, 2008 as they celebrate their 60th Year Anniversary.

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to congratulate, as it hereby congratulates St. Joseph’s School, now known as St. Joseph’s College on its 60th Anniversary for being the pioneer Catholic Learning Institution of Olongapo City.


Let copies of this Resolution be given to the administration, faculty, students and alumni association of St. Josephs’ School.

RESOLUTION NO. 21

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) FOR THE AFFILIATION OF ST. JOSEPH COLLEGE WITH JAMES L. GORDON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

WHEREAS, the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH), a tertiary training hospital owned and managed by the City Government of Olongapo, endeavors to provide excellent medical and health care services to the people of Olongapo as well as its neighboring towns and provinces;

WHEREAS, awarded by the Department of Health (DOH), as a Sentrong Sigla Hospital, the JLGMH now stands as a training ground where students enrolled in nursing and in other allied medical courses can be trained in various specialty areas at JLGMH, to comply with the requirements of the law for them to undergo Related-Learning Experience (duty hours);

WHEREAS, St. Joseph College – Olongapo City is offering Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) in consortium with the Bataan Polytechnic State College (BPSC). Students enrolled therein are likewise required by law to undergo actual training in administrative level in different specialty areas in hospitals;

WHEREAS, the said college requests that their students of MAN be admitted and allowed to undergo actual training at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital;

WHEREAS, the City approves the aforesaid request of the St. Joseph College provided that the training intended for the students of the Gordon College, which is owned and operated by the City, will not be jeopardized;

WHEREAS, Sangguniang Panlungsod deems it beneficial to authorize the City Mayor to enter into the said affiliation agreement to pave way for the said training;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D. Marzan, co-sponsored by Councilor Angelina B. Andrada, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the affiliation of St. Joseph College with James L.Gordon Memorial Hospital.
