A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE DEED OF DONATION ENTERED INTO AND SIGNED BY CITY MAYOR, HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO AND SM PRIME HOLDINGS, INC., REPRESENTED BY MR. BIEN C. MATEO, VICE-PRESIDENT – OPERATIONS, SHOPPING CENTER MANAGEMENT CORPORATION, RELATIVE TO THE DONATION OF (1) UNIT BACKHOE FOR THE DREDGING, REHABILITATION AND REBUILDING OF RIVERS AND FLOOD HIT AREAS

WHEREAS, Olongapo City places high priority on the dredging of rivers as one of its disaster preparedness measures, along with the studies at hand on the causes and factors that heightened the casualties as well as on the huge destruction of properties in flood hit areas;

WHEREAS, SM Prime Holdings Inc. donation of one (1) unit of backhoe is a timely answer for the urgent need of equipment to facilitate the on-going clearing and dredging operations;

WHEREAS, it is but necessary that the Deed of Donation be ratified in this regard;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Edna A. Elane, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to ratify, as it is hereby ratifies, the deed of donation entered into and signed by City Mayor, Honorable Rolen C. Paulino and SM Prime Holdings, Inc., represented by Mr. Bien C. Mateo, Vice-President – Operations, Shopping Center Management Corporation, relative to the donation of (1) unit backhoe for the dredging, rehabilitation and rebuilding of rivers and flood hit areas.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR  HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN A DEED OF DONATION WITH SM

PRIME HOLDINGS, INC. RELATIVE TO THE DONATION OF (1) UNIT

BACKHOE FOR THE DREDGING, REHABILITATION AND

 REBUILDING OF RIVERS AND FLOOD HIT AREAS

            WHEREAS,  the City Government of Olongapo  declared  the City in a state of calamity following the wrath of  typhoon Odette and strengthened by Habagat, that submerged the  17 barangays into floodwaters.  Currently, the City has also to brace itself for the ill effects of  the leptospirosis outbreak;

            WHEREAS,  the City  reached out to its community partners to seek help in the clearing, rescue and relief operations as well as in the dredging of rivers;

            WHEREAS, SM Prime Holdings Inc. owns one (1) unit of backhoe, primarily used for dredging activities, which they intend to donate, in response to this urgent call of the City, all for goodwill and fidelity to the people of Olongapo;

            NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of  City Councilor Edna A. Elane,  with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

            RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the  Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor Honorable Rolen C. Paulino to enter into and sign a deed of donation with SM Prime Holdings, Inc. relative to the donation of (1) unit backhoe for the dredging, rehabilitation and rebuilding of rivers and flood hit areas.

A RESOLUTION REITERATING OLONGAPO CITY’S REQUEST TO THE SUBIC BAY METROPOLITAN AUTHORITY TO ASSIST BY THE WAY OF ALLOCATING FUNDS OR EQUIPMENT IN THE DREDGING OF CHANNELS AND RIVERS SHARED BY OLONGAPO CITY AND SUBIC BAY FREEPORT AS PER RESOLUTION NO. 47, SERIES OF 2010

WHEREAS, the City Government recognized the danger brought about by clogged and polluted waterways and there is, in fact, an urgent need to dredge and revive Olongapo waterways to prevent massive flooding, polluted beaches, and scarcity of clean water both in the city and Subic Bay Freeport;

WHEREAS, the industrialization and reclamation by the SBMA and its locators contributed in the clogging and pollution of the city’s rivers and bay;

WHEREAS, the city government in its vigorous campaign to protect and maintain its rivers and channels through continuous implementation of dredging operations, sees the need for SBMA, who shared rivers and channels with Olongapo, to assist by way of allocating more or less Thirty Million Pesos (PhP30M) or needed equipment for the immediate de-clogging of rivers and channels shared by Olongapo City and Subic Bay Freeport;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilor Eduardo J. Piano, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguininag Panlumgsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to reiterate, as it is hereby reiterates its request to SBMA to Assist by way of Allocating Funds For equipment in the dredging of channels and rivers shared by Olongapo City and Subic Bay Freeport as per Resolution No. 47 Series of 2010.
