A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR, HONORABLE ROLEN C. PAULINO TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CULTURE AND THE ARTS (NCCA) REPRESENTED

BY ITS OIC, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ADELINA M. SUEMITH, FOR THE

UBOD 2014 NEW AUTHOR SERIES PROJECT

WHEREAS, pursuant to R.A. 7356, the NCCA is mandated to encourage the continuing and balanced development of a pluralistic culture by the people, conserve and promote the nation’s cultural heritage, ensure the widest dissemination of artistic and cultural products and preserve and integrate traditional culture and its various creative expressions as a dynamic part of the national cultural mainstream; 

WHEREAS, one of the projects of NCAA is  “UBOD 2014 New Author Series”, a committee-initiated project intended to launch new authors of the Philippine Literature.  It is open to all talented yet unpublished creative writers in the genres of fiction, poetry, Creative Non-Fiction (CNF), and drama in English and all Philippine languages;

WHEREAS, Olongapo City, through the initiative of the Olongapo Arts and Culture Council submitted a proposal for the UBOD 2014 for the development and recognition of local writers and arouse the interest of local literature students’;

            WHEREAS, the proposal was approved by the NCAA Board of Commissioners under Resolution Number 2014-280 dated 16 December 2013 supported by way of financial assistance in the amount of Five Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Pesos only (PhP575,000.00);

            WHEREAS, the city government will not incur any expenses in this project;

NOW, THEREFORE, on joint motion of Councilor Eduardo J. Piano and Councilor Eyrma Yvette Marzan-Estrella with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor, Honorable Rolen C. Paulino to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts represented by its OIC, Executive Director Adelina M. Suemith for the UBOD 2014 New Author Series Project.

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING  THE YOUNG ATHLETES FROM DIFFERENT SCHOOLS  IN OLONGAPO CITY  FOR WINNING  IN THE  BATANG PINOY 2014 LUZON LEG ELIMINATION AT NAGA CITY HELD ON NOVEMBER 11-16, 2014

WHEREAS, young  athletes from the different schools in the City of Olongapo  participated  in Batang Pinoy 2014 Luzon  Leg Elimination supported by  their  coaches and  trainers;

WHEREAS, “Philippine Youth Games-Batang Pinoy”  is  a national sports competition program for young athletes  ages 15 years old and  below;
